ABOUT THE PRESENTER

Tanya Wright, Ed. M is a two-time SAG Award winner (Best Ensemble) for her portrayal of Crystal Burset in Orange is the New Black.

 

The first book in her Hairiette of Harlem chapter book series is currently in Target stores nationwide; book 2 will debut in June and Book 3 will debut in September. Tanya wrote and directed the Goodnight, Hairiette puppet musical, wrote the (picture) book and designed the reading curriculum for K-3 schools.

 

Tanya received her master's in Learning Design, Innovation and Technology from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. While there, Tanya won the Harvard Innovative Venture in Education (HIVE) Award (most promising early stage venture) and the Education Entrepreneurship Fellowship. Tanya was a semifinalist in the Nichols Screenwriting Competition (administered by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences) and is currently writing a graphic novel that will serve as the basis for the Hairiette feature film. Tanya has also appeared in countless TV series including True Blood, Madame Secretary, “24” and The Good Wife.
