Planning on coming to our 1st Annual Awards Dinner? Then you'll have a chance to pitch our esteemed panel of investors, in front of both our live and virtual audience. If they like what they hear, they'll compete with each other for the opportunity to invest in your company!

If you're looking for investors to help you grow your business, this is your time to shine. Create a mind-blowing presentation, and you could walk away with money and a partners that could transform your publishing business - and your life!

Here's How It Works: The Three Rounds

There is no additional cost to participate in this event - everyone who registers for at least one award category and is also attending the Awards Dinner in-person will have the chance to be selected to pitch the investor panel. The selection process will be done over three rounds:

ROUND ONE: THE APPLICATION

We'll send everyone who has registered for at least one award a form to fill out. This form will help us learn a little more about you, your book(s), your publishing goals, your journey so far, and other details - things that our investors will want to know. 


We'll also ask you to submit a short video (no more than two minutes), telling us more about yourself, why you're looking for an investment, what you plan to do with the money, etc.


Based on a variety of criteria and variables, our Gateway Panel of judges will select roughly 50% of all respondents to move forward into Round Two.

ROUND TWO: THE INTERVIEW

We'll reach out to the authors and publishers who have advanced to Round Two to let them know, and to set time for a live  interview over Zoom. 


These interviews will be held with a member of our team, and will last about 30 minutes each. It will give us a chance to dig a little deeper into each authors business acumen, and get a sense of their growth potential and whether they may have a product or brand that the investors would be interested in. 


After all of the live, virtual interviews have been completed, our Gateway judges will confer with one another, and determine the final six authors (plus two alternates) who will ultimately pitch our panel of investors in the next and final round.

ROUND THREE: THE PITCH

The six authors who have made it to this final round will be alerted well in advance so they can prepare for their pitch - they can dress as their characters, read from their books... how they present is up to them! The pitches will happen throughout the evening during the Awards Ceremony - live and on-stage!


Each author will have a maximum of ten minutes to convince the panel of investors to invest in them, including any demonstrations and Q&A. If the investors aren't interested, then they can choose to go "out" and no longer be an active part of the pitch. Alternatively, if the investors are interested, then they'll compete with each other for the chance to invest in the opportunity being presented, and negotiate a good deal with the author.


It's a chance for the author to raise capital and gain an investor that may be able to help guide them to success; for the investor to grab a percentage of a potentially growing company; and for our audience to have fun while learning about dealing and negotiating with potential investors
